Workshop Participants, ESS Committee on the Status of Women

The ESS Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) is soliciting participants for three separate workshops concerning the following topics:  1. How to construct tenure and promotion portfolio, 2. Strategies for effectively planning and completing a sabbatical 3. Surviving graduate school. We are organizing these workshops for the 2017 annual meeting. We are interested in individuals who have experience in these areas and are willing to run a portion of the workshop(s).

CSW is also soliciting abstracts to be considered for inclusion in a paper session on gender identity, with a specific focus on research challenging binary understandings of gender and exploring the fluidity of gender identity, experience and expression.

Please send us your ideas for your session of interest by submitting your name, a short abstract of your idea (500 word maximum), and your contact information electronically to Laura West Steck at by October 1, 2016. Presenters will be contacted by the organizer regarding their inclusion in the CSW-sponsored sessions no later than October 10 so that they can submit their abstracts through the general submission portal for consideration for another session before the submission deadline.

The ESS Annual Meeting is scheduled for February 23-26, 2017, and is being held at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The theme for the 2017 meeting is “The End of the World as We Know It?” For general information about the ESS 2017 Annual Meeting, please go to
