VCU Visiting Position

VISITING TEACHING FACULTY (NON-TENURE TRACK) POSITION

The Department of Sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a visiting teaching faculty (non-tenure track) full time position at the Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor rank to begin August 2019. This is a one-year academic position with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Teaching will consist of a 4/4 load and will support the undergraduate core curriculum with particular emphasis on Research Methods and Senior Seminar as well as electives in their area of specialization.  Teaching responsibilities may include graduate courses depending on level of degree completion.  Departmental service is expected.  

Required qualifications include an ABD or PhD in Sociology by August 2019.  Preference will be given to those candidates with prior university level teaching experience.  Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.
