Tenure Track Position: Roanoke College

Roanoke College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level
in sociology beginning in August 2018. Preference will be given to candidates with experience
and interest in teaching social theory and qualitative research methods. Substantive areas
include medical sociology and global health, aging or applied sociology. Applicants should have
or be near completion of their Ph.D. and must have a strong commitment to undergraduate
education. Teaching responsibilities are divided between introductory level and upper-level
courses and include participation in the collegeā€™s general education program. The teaching load
is 6 courses per year with a 7 th course, that can be interdisciplinary and/or include international
or domestic travel, every third year during the May term. Research and professional
development are expected and financially supported through travel funds and internal grants.
The department supports thriving B.A. programs in sociology and public health studies with
concentrations in anthropology and crime, deviance, and social control. Roanoke College is a
