Tenure Track: Assistant/Associate Professor, University of South Alabama

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work at the University of South Alabama, a Carnegie-classified high research activity doctoral university, welcomes applications for a full-time (9 month), tenure-track faculty position in Sociology at the rank of assistant or associate professor to begin August 15, 2020. Applicants for the position must have primary expertise in sociological theory; secondary areas of specialization are open. Applicants should possess an earned doctoral degree in Sociology or a related field, but ABDs near completion of the degree will be considered. Prospective candidates for the position should expect to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sociological theory, introductory courses in sociology, and upper-division undergraduate as well as graduate courses in sociology consistent with secondary areas of specialization. The candidate who fills the position should be ready to pursue and sustain an active research agenda involving sociological theory and secondary areas of specialization that attracts and includes undergraduate and master’s students in Sociology.  The position also carries expectations for service to the Department, College, University, and local community.
