• Goal: Highly-accomplished faculty to serve as inspirational leaders, research partners, teachers, and junior faculty mentors

• Part-time and in-residence for 1 quarter per year for up to 5 years

• Deans send nominations to VP Academic Personnel

Inclusive Excellence Hiring Supplement

• Goal: Builds inclusive excellence by supporting a second hire if 2 top candidates who contribute to inclusive excellence are identified from 1 standard school-level search

Faculty Hiring for Leveraged Research Excellence (FHLRE)

• Goal: Builds on prior investments in research infrastructure, focusing on synergies with centers and institutes

High Impact Hiring Plan (HIHP)

• Goal: Interdisciplinary teams to foster transformational campus impact

• 1 primary hire at Distinguished or Chancellor’s Professor level and up to 5 cluster hires

• Chairs send nominations to VP Academic Planning

• Submission date: Jan 10, 2017 • 2014-2016: 9 faculty hired
Midcareer Professor Hiring Initiative (MPHI)

• Goal: Increasing advanced Assistant, tenured Associate, and early full Professors who have distinguished publication or creative endeavor records and who are on upward trajectories in their research profiles

• Deans send nominations to VP Academic Planning

• Submission dates: Candidate applications due Dec 9, 2016; unit nominations due Jan 11, 2017

• 2015-16: 18 nominations accepted, 6 hired; 2 Career Partners

Administered by the Office of the President

UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

• Goal: Encourages outstanding female and minority Ph.D. recipients to pursue UC academic careers

• After hosting a postdoctoral fellow, Deans may apply for 5- year partial salary support from the UCOP to hire a Fellow for a tenure-track position

• Online application to President: Sept through Oct

• 2015-16: 8 nominated (8 offered, 4 hired)
