Mini-conference on Military Sociology

We will again be organizing a mini-conference on Military Sociology for the Eastern Sociological Society’s Annual Meeting.   The 2017 meeting will be held in at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA) February 23-26, 2017.  This year’s conference theme is “The End of the World as We Know It”.  We are seeking papers on military issues that may reflect this theme, or more broadly, look at questions of peace and the military, or war & conflict.  Theoretical and empirical papers are welcome.

If you have questions, please email  Ryan Kelty or Morten Ender, the organizers, at ryan.kelty@usafa.edu or morten.ender@usma.edu  Authors must submit their proposals by October 15, 2016 through the ESS online abstract submission system (https://www.meetingsavvy.org/ess).  In the “Submission Details” window, select “Paper” for “Type of Submission,” and select keyword “miniconference: military sociology” for “Select the topic area that best describes your submission.”  Be sure to include a paper title along with your abstract of 250 words or less, your name as it should appear in the ESS program, your institutional affiliation and contact information.
