CFP Military Sociology

We will again be organizing a mini-conference on Military Sociology for the Eastern Sociological Society’s Annual Meeting.   The 2018 meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore, Baltimore, MD, February 22-25, 2018 (mini-conference dates TBD).  This year’s conference theme is As Time Goes By: Social and Institutional Change”.

We are seeking papers on military issues that may reflect this theme, or more broadly, look at questions of peace and the military, diversity in the military, veterans’ issues, health/mental health effects of war/service,  war & conflict, etc.  Theoretical and empirical papers are welcome.

If you have questions, please email  Ryan Kelty or Morten Ender, the organizers, at ryan.kelty@usafa.edu or morten.ender@usma.edu.  Authors must submit their proposals by October 13, 2017 through the ESS online abstract submission system, found at www.essnet.org. Please do not send papers directly to the organizers.  In the “Submission Details” window, select “Paper” for “Type of Submission,” and select keyword “miniconference: military sociology” for “Select the topic area that best describes your submission.”  Be sure to include a paper title along with your abstract of 250 words or less, your name as it should appear in the ESS program, your institutional affiliation and contact information.
