Job Description

The Department of Sociology invites applications for one tenure-track assistant professor position jointly appointed between the Department of Sociology and the Program in African and African American Studies with its tenure home in Sociology. Teaching responsibilities are one class in Sociology and one in African and African American Studies each semester. The appointment begins August 2019. We seek applicants with a specialization in Race/Ethnicity focusing on African American experiences to enhance departmental and program strengths. Candidates should show promise of developing a strong record of publications; potential for research funding is also desirable.


Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Sociology or related field. Candidates with Ph.D. in hand are preferred, but we will consider those who are close to completion and will finish by the time of the appointment.
